Is it surprising that Twilight hunk Robert Pattinson, 22, was a professional model as a child?
Ask the vampire phenom`s fans, and they`ll bare their teeth while uttering a resounding, Of course he was!
But unfortunately, as the tousle-haired heartthrob who plays Edward Cullen explains it, what started out as a lucrative gig at age 12 ended abruptly once puberty hit in his mid-teens.
“When I first started I was quite tall and looked like a girl, so I got lots of jobs, because it was during that period where the androgynous look was cool,” Pattinson tells the Daily Express.
“Then, I guess, I became too much of a guy, so I never got any more jobs. I had the most unsuccessful modelling career.”
Luckily, his sudden manliness led the bushy-brow Brit to sink his fangs into other jobs; most notably as Harry Potter`s Cedric Diggory.
From there he was able to springboard to his current bloodsucking series.
Meanwhile, following the bonanza of Twilight`s box office success, production company Summit Entertainment has announced a few jarring shuffles with its newfound franchise. Director Catherine Hardwicke won`t be on board for the sequel New Moon and actor Taylor Lautner (who plays Jacob Black) is a maybe.
However, Pattinson, it may be safe to assume, is in Twilight to stay.
That is, provided he doesn`t revert back to looking like a girl.
